Javonte Green saw Joe Mazzulla's future as an NBA head coach as a Boston Celtic
The players on the Boston Celtics roster knew that current Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla had what it takes to be the sort of successful coach he has become today based on how he conducted himself with Boston before the role became his at the end of the Ime Udoka era. Or at least one of them did -- former Boston wing and current Detroit Pistons vet Javonte Green .
The Radford alum recently took some time to sit down with CLNS Media to talk about his time with the Celtics among several topics ahead of Detroit's 112-105 win vs. Boston at TD Garden on Monday (Dec. 15) night. "Joe, I mean, I already knew when Joe got the head job it (was) going to be great, because Joe was an assistant when I was here -- just how he came to work and came prepared every single day," said Green.
"I knew that was going to translate to being a head coach," continued the Pistons reserve. I know Joe; he's a great guy, you know."
"We did a lot of work together when I was here and just talked a lot," added Green of their shared time on the Celtics.
"And I feel like Joe, he's a great guy. And I feel like, even when he got the head job, I already knew he was going to be great."
