UNITY TWP, Pa. —If not for a five-yard gap between him being stopped and the end zone, Jaylen Warren 's 65-yard catch-and-rumble against the Seattle Seahawks last year would've been the highlight of the season.
Despite breaking a bevy of tackles, making the eventual Super Bowl champions look silly, the Pittsburgh Steelers' running back didn't toot his own horn after the 31-17 home loss.
"Credit to my teammates," Warren said then "They're the ones that made it happen. I was just following their blocks."
With nearly a year having passed, Warren admitted even he was shocked to see it back on film. Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers said after seeing the reception that "every time he touches it, something good happens." Those types of plays become a blur for Warren, whose tough-nosed nature is a large part of the reason why he's stuck in the NFL after going undrafted.
"It's crazy because when plays like that happen, you're just running, you're just reacting," Warren said after a recent training camp practice. "I didn't know it would look like that on the field. I just remember I got all the yards. I didn't know I was doing all of that."
Warren likened the effort to something you'd see in a video game. (Remember Gamebreakers in NFL Street 2?)
"I was like, 'What the hell?'" Warren said. "'What the hell (kind of) power-up did I just (have)?'"
On the season, Warren had 40 grabs for 333 yards and two touchdowns.
