The Utah Jazz received brutal injury news regarding Jaren Jackson Jr. , as the star power forward sustained a torn MCL in his right knee during the 110-105 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. On Tuesday, the bad news kept pouring in, as Lauri Markkanen is dealing with an injury of his own.
Luckily, Markkanen's situation is not nearly as bad as Jackson. The 29-year-old forward is dealing with a wrist sprain he suffered in Monday's contest, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. While Jackson is out for at least six weeks, Markkanen is considered day-to-day.
"The Jazz say Jaren Jackson Jr. sustained a torn MCL in his right knee Monday against Memphis and will be out for at least six weeks. Lauri Markkanen, meanwhile, is being listed as day-to-day after sustaining a right wrist sprain."

It's not ideal news, but at least Markkanen will have a chance to come back relatively quickly. His status for Wednesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs is up in the air. However, he has a chance of returning for Saturday's contest against the Portland Trail Blazers. Either way, the Jazz will evaluate the 10-year veteran before determining his exact return date.
Markkanen has participated in all four of Utah's games so far this season. He's currently averaging 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 39.6% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the three-point line.
Jazz head coach Will Hardy might have to get creative with the rotation. With both Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. dealing with injuries, guys like Kyle Filipowski, Jaxson Hayes, and Mo Bamba could get more playing time.
