The Utah Jazz are building up to something special after selecting Darryn Peterson with the second overall pick of the 2026 NBA Draft. It certainly feels as though the Jazz are gearing up for a playoff push for the 2026-27 campaign, and one would think that Walker Kessler , a key piece they acquired in the Rudy Gobert trade all the way back in 2022, is going to play a huge part in taking this Utah rebuild to the next level.

Kessler is a restricted free agent, which means that the Jazz can match any and all offers for the 24-year-old center. It certainly is not going to be easy to re-sign Kessler, as Utah appears to be facing stiff competition for one of the best shot-blockers in the NBA.
According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, "Kessler has had meetings with a couple of teams and is headed to another meeting." Moreover, Kessler is not going to be coming cheap, as "he holds multiple offers in the mid to high 30's annually".
The appeal of signing Kessler is clear. He is young and has a burgeoning offensive game, all while already being one of the best rim protectors in the association.
Even after playing just five games this past season, Kessler has the seventh-most blocks in the NBA since he made his debut in 2022. He has rejected 2.4 shots per contest since his rookie campaign, which is good for the second-most per game since 2022, only trailing Victor Wembanyama.

He even flashed a promising three-point shot before he succumbed to a season-ending shoulder injury, and considering how young he is, there is plenty of projected improvement for him moving forward as he enters his prime.
The Jazz, in all likelihood, are going to be bringing him back , as they will need to pair up Jaren Jackson Jr. with a true center like Kessler.
