Jeremy Doku will come away from Manchester City's 1-0 loss to Brighton on Saturday believing that there is nothing else he could have done.
The Citizens were beaten within the opening 11 minutes, with Yasin Ayari's early goal ultimately proving to be the difference.
Enzo Maresca's side had several chances as they pushed for an equaliser, but Bart Verbruggen stood tall for the visitors and could not be surpassed.
Doku returned from injury earlier this month and has been in superb form despite Man City's recent decline in results.
The Citizens now find Brighton just two points behind them in the Premier League, while Arsenal could move three points ahead if they win at Anfield on Sunday.
A Liverpool win will see them come within three points, with Man City's early dominance fading fast.
Stats prove Jeremy Doku can be proud
Doku never stopped trying against Brighton, even though many of his teammates appeared to.
The Belgian was creating chances until the final moments, going close when his shot was batted away by Verbruggen.
All in all, the 24-year-old created four chances - more than anybody else - and took two shots.
Even more remarkably, Doku took 14 touches in the opposition box. That was the most on the pitch and four more than Erling Haaland.
And even better than that, the winger completed an astonishing nine dribbles - six more than the next best.
He delivered four accurate crosses and was fouled three times, again, the joint-most.
Doku made three tackles, a clearance, eight recoveries and, for the final time, won more duels than anybody else on the pitch - 15.
'Wow' - Ex-refs chief can't believe 'deliberate handball' missed in Man City loss to Brighton Final element lacking for Doku
Doku will face one criticism for his performance, and that is simply that he was not able to find the net.
One moment in the first half saw him presented with an excellent opportunity to shoot, but he decided to turn back once again and the chance was gone.
That has been a frequent criticism of the Belgian, and it something he must cut out of his game.
But Doku can say that he continued to provide danger throughout, and that is something that his teammates cannot.
