Jerry Jones has seen plenty of highs and lows from the Dallas Cowboys this season; however, one development has stood out above the rest.
The Cowboys' owner and general manager believes that Tyler Guyton's emergence as a left tackle may actually be the biggest positive the Cowboys have seen so far. After a difficult start to his career, Guyton has taken a noticeable step forward in 2026, and Jones believes the young tackle is finally becoming the player the Cowboys expected him to be.

Jones made the strong assessment while discussing Guyton's play on 105.3 The Fan. Rather than simply calling the tackle's recent performance encouraging, the owner went as far as to describe it as potentially the highlight of Dallas' season to this point.
"I'm not so sure it's not the highlight so far this year, because of his skill level. He's got some of the best feet you'll ever see in sport or certainly playing left tackle in the NFL.
"To his credit, he's evolving into the outstanding player that we need him to be. That may be the best news we've got at this juncture of the season."
That is a significant endorsement for Guyton, particularly because the 2024 first-round pick has had his share of struggles since entering the league. Injuries, penalties, and inconsistent pass protection made his first two seasons difficult. The Cowboys needed to see a major improvement from him this year, especially with the responsibility of protecting Dak Prescott's blind side.
So far, Guyton appears to be answering that challenge. His performance in the Cowboys' 34-30 comeback against the Houston Texans provided perhaps the clearest example. Guyton faced two of Houston's premier pass rushers, Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr., and largely held his own.
Against Hunter, Guyton allowed only two pressures across 32 matchups, with no sacks. He also surrendered just one pressure on eight snaps against Anderson. Those numbers help explain why Jones is so enthusiastic about the tackle's development.
Guyton has also reportedly allowed o nly 12 quarterback pressures and zero sacks through the first four games. That is a major change from the concerns that followed him during his NFL seasons. The improvement is coming at an important time for Dallas. The Cowboys still have questions elsewhere on the offensive line, particularly at right tackle, while Tyler Smith remains sidelined with a thumb injury.
More importantly, the Cowboys may finally be seeing the version of Guyton they envisioned when they selected him in the first round. His physical tools were never really in doubt. The question was whether he could turn those traits into consistent NFL production.
For a Cowboys team sitting at 2-2 aft er a dramatic comeback win over the Texans, that might be more valuable than any single highlight play. Guyton becoming a dependable left tackle could give the Cowboys stability on the blind side for years to come.
