- Jesse Minter acknowledges the psychological factor in Ravens’ collapses
The Baltimore Ravens have repeatedly shown they can compete with quality opponents. They haven't always been able to put those opponents away. Too often, they've built big leads and punched some of the NFL's bullies in the mouth, only to watch games unravel when circumstances turn against them.
Sunday's 35-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals followed that troubling pattern. Baltimore took a 13-0 halftime lead before surrendering 35 unanswered points . For head coach Jesse Minter, the problem has become bigger than one bad half or a handful of missed assignments. Minter acknowledged this after the loss .

He says Baltimore must confront the psychological side of its repeated collapses. Many would agree. The Ravens have shown their potential in stretches, but maintaining that level of play when momentum shifts has become an increasingly urgent challenge.
"I think in every game we've proven that we're good enough to be the type of team that we want to be, and we've proven that we're bad enough to be a not very good team as well. There's a consistency level that we need to find where it's less riding the wave of momentum and more about staying even-keeled and finding a way to have each other's back and finding a way to pick each other up."
Jesse Minter says Ravens must take control of their response
Minter was also asked directly whether Baltimore's repeated breakdowns had become psychological. Rather than dismissing the possibility, Minter acknowledged that the team's mental side must be addressed.
"Yes, but only we can change that. I would say there was a little bit of that, but we have control over that. That's what we need to understand is we have complete control over that mentality. We have an opportunity … Again, we've proven that we can play, and regardless of what the circumstances are, we can play [the way we want to and not] lose momentum. We have total control over that, and that's what we need to understand."
That response puts the responsibility squarely on the Ravens themselves. Baltimore cannot control every opponent's adjustment or prevent every negative play, but it can control how it responds when things start to go wrong. Against Cincinnati, the Bengals ' early second-half success helped shift the game, and Baltimore failed to stop the slide before the deficit became overwhelming. Minter said the team needs to have difficult conversations about its identity and how it wants to respond under pressure.
"Right now, I think it's just a big point in the season for us to determine what type of team we want to be."
The concern is that this has become a recurring issue rather than an isolated setback. Baltimore has now lost consecutive divisional games, falling to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the AFC North . The Ravens' ability to play well in stretches hasn't translated into the consistency needed to close out games.

Baltimore's preparation must account for second-half adjustments
The psychological challenge does not absolve the coaching staff of its own responsibility. Minter acknowledged that Baltimore must better anticipate how opponents might adjust after halftime, particularly as the offense tries to sustain drives.
"We need to make sure that we go into the game with enough plays and enough adjustments – and forward-thinking adjustments – of what teams may do so that in the second half we have a great plan to help us be able to move the ball."
That preparation will matter against the Buffalo Bills , but the bigger test is whether Baltimore can apply those adjustments without letting one setback trigger another. The Ravens have shown they can build leads and execute at a high level. Now they must prove they can stay composed when an opponent pushes back, make the next play, and keep adversity from turning into a collapse.
