The New York Jets are currently taking part in OTAs as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 NFL season. The Jets decided to bring head coach Aaron Glenn back this year despite their ugly record in 2025, and will look to take at least an incremental step forward in his second season at the helm.
Recently, Johnson attended a media availability with a shirt that said "GRIT," a trait that he believes the cross-town friend New York Knicks have in spades.
"This is a gritty, gritty team. It's hard to be a gritty team without gritty players," said Glenn, per Dennis Waszak Jr. of the AP on X, formerly Twitter. "…They play their a**** off."
Glenn also shared that he is rooting for the Knicks in the upcoming NBA Finals, which will take place starting next week against either the Oklahoma City Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs . He also pointed out that he thinks their success starts with Jalen Brunson .
The Knicks have definitely shown a lot of grit during their current playoff run, having won their last 11 straight games, 10 of which were by double figures. The Knicks have also won their three closeout games during this run by 51, 30, and 37 points, respectively.
The Jets, meanwhile, haven't had much success to speak about over the last 15 years, but perhaps they could follow a similar pattern as the Knicks in turning themselves from a laughingstock into a contender. It was just a few years ago, after all, that the Knicks were widely considered to be among the worst franchises in the NBA, being ridiculed for paying big money to Jalen Brunson in free agency.
Brunson is now among the top stars in the NBA, and the Knicks have a legit chance of taking home their first NBA title in over 50 years.
