The Jets signed Ossai to a three-year , $34.5 million contract in free agency to help boost their pass rush.
The former Texas standout has missed both regular-season games with a foot injury he picked up during training camp. His return would be a promising addition against the Lions (1-1) in Week 3.
The Jets (1-1) have done a good job rushing the passer even without Ossai at their disposal. The Jets' pass-rush-win-rate through Week 2 is 64%, 3rd-best in the entire NFL, according to ESPN Stats & Info . They've sacked opposing quarterbacks on six occasions in two games.
Meanwhile the Lions have shown some weaknesses throughout their offensive line. A returning Ossai would join David Bailey, Kingsley Enagbare , and Will McDonald IV as options on the edge. Head coach Aaron Glenn is rotating pass rushers as needed.
