The Las Vegas Aces hope to even the WNBA playoff semifinal series against the Golden State Valkyries in Game 2 on Wednesday, Oct. 6, but the defending champions will likely be without a key contributor.

Guard Jewell Loyd is listed as doubtful for Game 2 with a left leg injury suffered in the Aces' 71-60 loss to the Valkyries on Sunday at Chase Center in San Francisco to drop to 0-1 in the best-of-five semifinal series.

Loyd appeared to suffer the injury in the second half of Game 1 and exited the game just over two minutes into the third quarter. She didn't return, ending her night after 17 minutes. She did not score and rounded out her stat line with two rebounds and an assist.

The three-time WNBA champion wasn't initially listed on the Aces' injury report on Tuesday, Oct. 6, which marked a good sign for the Aces' already depleted depth. But Loyd popped up on the injury report at 8:00 p.m. ET as doubtful, alongside Dana Evans (right knee), while Stephanie Talbot (left leg) was listed as questionable.

Las Vegas has had multiple injuries in the 2026 postseason. They squeaked past the Indiana Fever in the first round. But, the Aces entered the second round against the Valkyries with less than 100% health.

"We just got to go with what's sitting on that bench," Aces head coach Becky Hammon said following their Game 1 loss. "We don't have a lot of time to sulk about it. Nobody feels bad for us. It's just the next woman up."

The Aces are without NaLyssa Smith , who started 38 game for the Aces before suffering a season-ending left leg injury. Talbot missed two consecutive playoff games: Game 1 against Golden State and Game 3 of the Aces' first-round playoff series win against the Fever. Evans has been limited to 14 games this season with injury and last played on Sept. 22.

"We're a little bit depleted right now. We just have to be next woman up," Las Vegas head coach Hammon said. "A lot of their players are very similar, so (Natalie Nakasie) kind of shuffles them in there and out of there. ... (The Golden State Valkyries ) kind of have a different kind of firepower that they were able to put together. For us, you know, we just at some point I wish we would get healthy, but you know, it is what it is."

Las Vegas was sorely missing Loyd's production without her on the floor.

"I thought she was great. You know her ability to spread the floor. She's very solid defensively. I think one thing that gets overlooked, and I wanted to give her her kudos in front of the team, but I'll say it here too: the amount of screen assists that she gets never really shows up on a stat sheet," Hammon said about Loyd, who was crucial versus the Fever. "How many screens she set for everybody else to eat? She was a screen-setting machine in that Indiana series, and so you know she does a lot of little things that help us win."
