The latest Joao Pedro injury news is the not that promising for Chelsea, as their star striker is set to be missing for a period of time.
The Brazilian striker is Chelsea's leading goalscorer this season with five Premier League goals, but suffered an injury which ruled him out of their home defeat to rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Chelsea didn't look the same without Joao Pedro, and this injury news is a massive blow.
Joao Pedro injury news, latest update
Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso has been speaking about Joao Pedro's injury ahead of their League Cup last 16 trip to Liverpool on Wednesday, and confirmed that the Brazilian will be out for a while.
"Yes, he has an injury on his thigh and he is going to be out for a few weeks. Let's see how many, we don't want to predict on that," Alonso said.
"He's not ready for the next games. Yeah, for sure [we can cope]. This is why you build a squad. For sure, some players are important but this can happen."
How will Chelsea cope without Joao Pedro?
Alonso had confirmed that Joao Pedro was injured in training last Friday, just before the home game against Spurs.
And boy did it have a massive impact on how Chelsea played.
It's a blow for Chelsea with Joao Pedro in great form spearheading the attack in front of Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer in the opening months of the season.
But this is now a huge opportunity for youngster Geovany Quenda and veteran Danny Welbeck to step up and ease the impact of Joao Pedro's injury.
