- Joelinton: “We Have To Do Better” After Villa Defeat At Home
(IPS)
Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton has been left with plenty to reflect on after the Magpies suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Villa at St James' Park, extending Matthias Jaissle's difficult spell in charge.
The Brazilian midfielder returned to the starting line-up for Saturday evening's Premier League encounter, but his presence was not enough to prevent Newcastle from suffering back-to-back defeats following Monday night's humiliating 4-1 loss against Coventry City.

Johan Manzambi, who Newcastle had attempted to sign during the summer transfer window, proved to be the difference between the sides, heading home the winning goal in the 36th minute. The result left the home supporters frustrated, with questions continuing to grow over Newcastle's performances under their new head coach.
For Joelinton, the message is clear: Newcastle must improve, and they must do so quickly.
Newcastle Fail To Deliver At St James' Park
Having endured a difficult evening against Coventry, Newcastle were desperate to respond in front of their own supporters. Jaissle made one change to his starting line-up, bringing Joelinton into the team in place of Jacob Murphy as he looked to restore some much-needed physicality and aggression to the midfield.

The Magpies made a reasonably bright start, but they struggled to turn their early possession into clear-cut opportunities. Villa threatened on the counter-attack before eventually finding the breakthrough through Manzambi's header.
Newcastle had opportunities to respond, with Yoane Wissa going close on several occasions, but the hosts lacked the clinical finishing required to rescue a point.
There was an improvement after the interval, with Sven Botman forcing a save from goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and Wissa threatening the Villa goal. However, the Magpies could not find an equaliser despite their increased urgency in the closing stages.
Ultimately, Newcastle managed just one shot on target, underlining the attacking problems that have become increasingly apparent during their recent run of disappointing results.

Joelinton's Return Cannot Solve Midfield Problems
Joelinton's return to the starting eleven was expected to provide Newcastle with greater strength, energy and defensive protection in the middle of the pitch.
The Brazilian has become an important figure for the Magpies because of his physical presence, aggressive tackling and ability to compete in difficult situations. His experience is particularly valuable during a period when Jaissle is attempting to establish his preferred playing style.
However, one returning player cannot resolve every issue within a struggling team.
Newcastle have continued to experience problems controlling matches, protecting their defence and creating consistent attacking opportunities. The midfield has frequently appeared vulnerable when opponents bypass the initial press, leaving the defensive line exposed.

Although Joelinton offers qualities that Newcastle have missed during his absence, the wider structure must improve if the team are to become more competitive.
Jaissle must find a way to bring greater balance to his midfield, ensuring that Newcastle can press aggressively without leaving themselves vulnerable whenever possession is lost.
The German coach also needs his players to show greater composure and decision-making in possession, particularly when facing opponents capable of exploiting mistakes.
Pressure Continues To Build On Jaissle
The defeat against Villa represents another setback for Jaissle, whose appointment promised an energetic and progressive style of football at St James' Park.

However, results have begun to raise concerns about whether his tactical approach is producing the desired improvements.
Newcastle's consecutive defeats against Coventry and Aston Villa have exposed weaknesses at both ends of the pitch. Defensively, they have struggled to maintain control, while their attacking play has lacked the quality and consistency needed to turn promising spells into goals.
The challenge now is to ensure these setbacks do not become a defining feature of the early stages of his tenure.
Joelinton's experience could prove important in helping the squad respond, but Newcastle need more than encouraging words and determination. They need improved performances, greater organisation and a willingness to learn from their mistakes.

Supporters will expect a reaction in the next fixture, particularly after watching their side struggle to create meaningful chances against Villa.
Newcastle Must Respond Quickly
There is still time for Newcastle to turn their season around, but the current situation demands urgent attention.
Joelinton's return provides Jaissle with another experienced option as he looks to rebuild confidence and restore some stability to the side. The midfielder's leadership and combative style could be crucial in helping Newcastle rediscover the intensity that has made them such a difficult opponent in previous seasons.

Nevertheless, the responsibility cannot rest on one player's shoulders.
Every member of the squad must take responsibility for the recent performances, while Jaissle must demonstrate the tactical flexibility required to get the best out of his players.
Newcastle cannot afford to continue dropping points while their confidence deteriorates. The upcoming fixtures will provide an important opportunity to demonstrate whether the lessons from these defeats have been learned.
For Joelinton and his teammates, the objective is straightforward: improve, respond and give the supporters something to believe in again.

Newcastle have endured a difficult week, and the defeat against Aston Villa has only increased the pressure on Jaissle. If the Magpies are to get their season back on track, Joelinton's call for improvement must be followed by action on the pitch.
