Jon Sumrall's reaction to latest Florida Gators recruit committing says everything about how the program has changed

The Florida Gators have been on one heck of a recruiting heater under head coach Jon Sumrall .

On Wednesday, the Gators received a commitment from five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller , marking their first one on the line since 2015. Sumrall followed it up with four-star quarterback Davin Davidson on Thursday night. It was a fantastic week leading up to the spring game , and it got even better with five-star and No. 1 overall recruit Jalen Brewster visiting during the game.

The Gators continued their impressive recruiting by landing a commitment from four-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain . He’s the 25th-ranked overall recruit by Rivals and an impressive riser over the recruiting process.

It’s an impressive heater for Sumrall. The Gators’ recruiting class is in a very good spot, especially compared to where they were last year under Billy Napier . It’s not just the amount of recruits or the talent level of them, it’s the vibes around campus.

Sumrall has the Gators on a different level, and recruits have consistently talked about it .

"The energy has flipped a 180. The new staff is better than the old staff, and no disrespect of course, but ask any recruit. They've seen the energy is electric."

Four-star OT Sean Tatum

It’s one thing to hear about it, but another to see it in action. Sumrall’s energy is different, and we got to see it when Fountain committed right after the spring game.

When you put Sumrall’s vibe next to Napier, it’s completely different. That energy is huge for attracting recruits to come play in Gainesville. It’s been too long since the Gators have been real contenders for the national championship. Getting there won’t be easy for the Gators, but Sumrall has them on the right path.
