Jorge Jesus speaks out after reading Cristiano Ronaldo's statement
Coach Jorge Jesus confirmed that he had read the lengthy and explosive statement released by Cristiano Ronaldo, in which the Portugal captain explains his departure from the national team camp and sharply criticizes the coach.
Approached by Portuguese journalists on Wednesday, Jorge Jesus avoided prolonging the controversy and gave a straightforward response. "I read the statement, and now, as I do every day, I'm going to the federation to work and focus on the team and the national side," the coach said.

The turmoil began on Tuesday, when Cristiano Ronaldo publicly apologized for leaving the national team's training camp. In the statement, the star acknowledged that his status as captain should be considered an aggravating factor in any punishment he might face. However, the player did not spare Jorge Jesus, accusing the coach of breaking his word on two separate occasions.
According to Ronaldo's account, the first breach of trust occurred during the match against Norway. The number 7 warmed up but was not brought on, despite having been told beforehand that he would play for around 30 minutes.
The second grievance raised by the forward concerns what happened behind the scenes ahead of the press conference before the clash with Denmark. Ronaldo claims that Jorge Jesus did not follow a document prepared to guide his remarks to journalists. According to the player, he had approved the script, which the coach himself had requested after a meeting with members of CR7's inner circle.
Tension now hangs over Portuguese football, raising questions about the future of the relationship between the coach and the country's biggest star, as well as the possible disciplinary sanctions the federation may impose.
