Juventus have been handed a significant fitness boost ahead of their first match of the season against Frosinone on Sunday, with Khephren Thuram back in full training. The midfielder struggled with an injury during the final weeks of last season, and the post-season break was not enough for him to make a full recovery .
As a result, Thuram returned to the club still unfit, despite being the first player to resume training ahead of the new season. He was unable to feature in Juventus' pre-season matches as the Bianconeri prepared for the campaign.
Thuram is one of the players who met Luciano Spalletti's demands after he became the Bianconeri manager last season, and he is expected to receive playing time during the new campaign. His return will therefore be welcomed by the manager as Juventus prepare for their opening match.
Spalletti will be delighted to have Thuram available again, particularly after the midfielder endured a difficult period on the sidelines. His return gives the manager another option in midfield as the team prepares for competitive action.
As reported by Tuttosport , Thuram joined full team training for the first time and has now begun building his fitness after a challenging spell out with injury. His return to the group represents an important step in his recovery.
The midfielder will still need to work on his fitness before he can be considered fully ready for regular competitive action. However, being back with his teammates allows him to continue his recovery while preparing for the demands of the new season.
Thuram will have to fight for his place in the starting team because Juventus have performed well during pre-season. He also faces new competition for playing time from players such as Douglas Luiz and Arthur Melo .
The competition could make it more difficult for Thuram to immediately reclaim his position, but he will be confident in his ability to win the battle for minutes. His previous performances under Spalletti have already demonstrated his value to the team.
Juventus will hope Thuram can continue progressing without suffering another setback. His return gives the Bianconeri greater depth in midfield and provides Spalletti with another player to consider as the season gets underway.
For now, Thuram's focus will be on regaining full fitness and proving that he is ready to contribute again after his difficult spell on the sidelines.
