The Kansas City Chiefs could still address their interior offensive line depth, especially with Trey Smith banged up. Smith suffered a hip injury on August 7 that sidelined him for several weeks and even met with a hip specialist as a precaution. The good news is that the two-time Pro Bowler's hip injury is not expected to sideline him for an extended period. He recently returned to practice with a plan to ease back in and is expected to be ready for Week 1.
However, the interior offensive line depth is a cause for concern. Jaylon Moore and Kahlil Benson , who are battling for the starting right tackle spot, have both alternated at right guard when Smith missed practice. This suggests that the Chiefs are more comfortable with Moore and Benson filling in than Mike Caliendo and Hunter Nourzad .

According to Jordan Schultz, the Kansas City Chiefs acquired Joshua Ezeudu from the New York Giants in exchange for a 2028 seventh-round pick. Kansas City inherits a one-year, $1.3 million contract . Ezeudu offers positional versatility, having started ten games throughout his NFL career, including 402 snaps and seven starts at left tackle, 317 snaps and two starts at left guard, and 18 snaps and one start as an extra offensive lineman in jumbo packages. During the preseason, he has taken reps at both right guard and right tackle.

Joshua Ezeudu suffered a calf injury late in training camp, leading the Giants to place him on injured reserve with a designation for return during roster cuts. Ezeudu had his practice window opened up on December 10. However, despite returning to practice and being a full participant in the last few weeks, the former third-round pick never played in 2025 and was reverted to the season-ending injured reserve.
