Kansas City Chiefs release experienced TE during final roster cuts
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs are set to waive veteran tight end Tre Watson following their preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks .
Watson signed with the Chiefs at the end of last season; the franchise decided to retain him on a reserve/future contract after he spent 2025 on their practice squad. The numbers game may have played a role, with multiple other tight ends rising ahead of him on the depth chart in preseason.

Watson recorded 77 receptions for 872 yards and 5 touchdowns in 46 games over his four-year collegiate career, splitting time between the Fresno State Bulldogs and Texas A&M Aggies. He also had a highlight-worthy hurdle over a defender in Friday's preseason finale.
