Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo spoke with reporters at a recent press conference, expressing optimism about the future of Omarr Norman-Lott and Ashton Gillotte .
"I was really happy with the way Omarr (Norman-Lott) was progressing. Remember, he went through the injuries, and that sets you back as a rookie a little bit, but then, he started to find a groove, and then he got hurt," said Spagnuolo. "So, he's got that challenge of getting back there and getting healthy and being in shape."
Norman-Lott was helped off the field following a torn ACL injury in Week 7, in visible pain. He ended his rookie season with five games played, tallying five tackles and a sack.
"I thought Ashton (Gillotte) has been and hopefully will continue to be on a trajectory that's going upward." said Spagnuolo, "It would've been nice to maybe get more reps in early (but) we were rotating guys, but I think he's getting plenty towards the end here and I think that will help him going forward."
The former Louisville standout secured his first NFL interception in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers . Gillotte ended the season with 36 total tackles and 1.5 sacks to go along with his lone interception.
