LAWRENCE, Kan. — Much was made about Darryn Peterson missing Monday night's game against Arizona due to flu-like symptoms.
It's been a frustrating saga for Peterson, who's looked the part when he's on the floor, but has missed 11 games and played limited minutes for various reasons, leaving many questioning his commitment to the team.

In fact, those questions only ramped up after a viral tweet from Barstool Arizona surfaced where they recorded an ESPN crew member at the scorers table allegedly sending a text surrounding the circumstances of why Peterson was unavailable.
Kansas' Senior Associate AD of Strategic Communications Daniel Berk quoted the tweet , shutting down the rumors swiftly.
"The person texting in this video is a contracted crew worker who handles official stats during the game for ESPN. He does not work for KU and is not affiliated with the athletic department in any way. He has no inside information and was speculating. We are handling internally," Berk said on X.

Head Coach Bill Self said Peterson was 50/50 coming into the game but he expected him to play. Peterson was never placed on the injury report and came out for Kansas' shootaround. He was ruled out less than an hour before tip-off.
Nonetheless, Kansas came out with an immense victory over the Wildcats behind one of the best environments in the history of Allen Fieldhouse, giving them their eighth straight win.
