Kate Martin has bounced around the WNBA since getting drafted by the Las Vegas Aces in 2024. She played for the Golden State Valkyries in 2025 and suited up for the Los Angeles Sparks and Chicago Sky in 2026.
Naturally, there are plenty of questions about Martin's career, especially as her player development contract with the Sky ended at the conclusion of the 2026 campaign.
It's also worth noting that Martin recently reached a mutual agreement with Unrivaled to terminate her contract. To recall, the 26-year-old guard signed a multi-year deal with the 3-on-3 league in August.
The decision has only fueled further speculation about Martin's career, with many expressing their belief that she would play overseas or perhaps take a coaching position somewhere.

On Sunday, Martin's name trended once again. The Iowa women's basketball team initially teased an announcement with a short video seemingly showing Martin. It captioned the post "See you soon."
Many commented on the post and asked whether it was an announcement that Martin would be returning to Iowa in a coaching role.
"Hold up. Is that Kate? Is this an announcement that she is gonna be an assistant coach?" a commenter asked. Another one said, "OMG- Kate coming home to coach? That would be so awesome!"
"IF KATE MONEY MARTIN IS COMING HOME I SWEAR TO GOD," an excited fan stated.
Hours later, the team dropped its intro video, which indeed featured Martin. The former Aces guard narrated the hype video as well. However, no announcement was made regarding Martin, sparking confusion and more questions from the team's followers.
"So is Kate coming back to coach?" a poster asked. A supporter had a similar question, saying, "So is Kate going back to coach or is she still gonna play? Either way I'm wishing the best for her."
A follower shared, "was lowkey hoping we'd get a Kate as coach announcement."
For what it's worth, Martin herself has yet to make an announcement about her next career move.
