KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Current made history during the team's final home match of the season, welcoming a record-setting crowd while expanding the matchday experience beyond CPKC Stadium.
With about 18,000 fans expected for the club's largest-attended match in team history, the Current introduced a new Ground Pass experience at Current Landing, giving supporters another way to watch the game and celebrate the team outside the stadium.

About 6,000 fans gathered in the outdoor area to watch the match on large screens while enjoying food, entertainment and family-friendly activities.
"It's a fun day to come out and celebrate Kansas City and celebrate sports in Kansas City and be a part of history because this will be our largest attended match in Kansas City Current history," said Jocelyn Monroe, chief marketing director of KC Current.
For $10, the Ground Pass gave fans access to an outdoor watch party featuring five screens, games, a children's area and halftime entertainment.
"We got a concert at halftime; we got five screens to watch the match, we have a kid-friendly zone," Monroe said.
The experience also expanded access for supporters who were unable to get tickets inside CPKC stadium, which has a capacity of about 12,000.
"What really makes the atmosphere is the people, so having more of our fans have the opportunity to come down and build out an accessible area for them is something we always were thinking about," Monroe said.
New restaurants open at Current Landing
The expanded Current Landing experience featured two new dining options: Revel Bar & Grill and Providence Pizza, adding to the Riverfront entertainment district surrounding the stadium.
Sunday marked the grand opening of Providence Pizza, which opened on one of the busiest days for the area.
"We are excited and nervous. This is our grand opening, so we are opening our restaurant on one of the probably busiest days for Current Landing," said Aaron, the owner of Providence Pizza.
Fans began lining up before kickoff, adding to the atmosphere as the Current closed out their home schedule with a historic crowd.
