Kentucky might have interest in a former in-state recruit

The opening of the transfer portal window is just days away, and everyone is expecting the Kentucky Wildcats to be heavily involved as Mark Pope enters an important offseason. He is likely to turn over every rock, looking to build a championship roster with Big Blue Nation becoming impatient with his results so far.

There are already multiple players whose names have been connected to Kentucky already. One recent player is former in-state recruit Brett Decker, an Elizabethtown native who played for Liberty last season, and is now in the portal.

Decker wasn't highly recruited out of high school in 2024, and was rated three stars by 247Sports . The 6'3, 190 lb guard joined the Flames, and put together a very good sophomore season. He averaged 16.9 points per game last year, and shot 47% from three-point range.

The Wildcats sorely needed more shooters last season, and will be looking to add some this year. Decker is certainly capable of doing that. His connections to the state might also give Pope and edge. The portal opens Apr. 7, and we'll update this story as in develops.
