A Kentucky target from last year is in the transfer portal again

Last offseason, the Kentucky Wildcats and Mark Pope went after a number of frontcourt players in the transfer portal, hoping to beef up their interior after struggling inside the previous year. One of the players they targeted was San Diego State center Magoon Gwath . He was predicted to join the Wildcats, but ultimately removed his name from the portal.

Now, fast forward a year, and he is once again entering the portal. The 7'0", 210 lb center has decided to transfer just as the portal is set to open on Tuesday. He will have plenty of suitors.

Gwath's minutes were down a bit this season. However, he averaged 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. Those are mostly down as well, but he was terrific, particularly as a rim protector the previous season.

It's unknown whether or not Kentucky will have interest once again. They do have a need on the frontcourt, and it would make sense if they think he can be that same defender. We will continue to update the story as more information becomes available.
