Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball fans might want to learn name Magoon Gwath.

The 7-footer may soon be coming to Lexington via the transfer portal.

That's the latest prediction in the 247Sports Crystal Ball as the portal opens on Tuesday -- it projects Gwath to come from San Diego State to Kentucky.

If that happens, it has the potential to be a massive pickup for the Wildcats and head coach Mark Pope.

Gwath is the son of South Sudanese refugees, although he was born in the United States.

He split his high school career between Texas and California before enrolling at SDSU.

Gwath redshirted his first season, then was Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year in 2024-25.

He just put together a second strong season for the Aztecs before hitting the transfer portal.

Gwath actually put up bigger numbers in 2024-25, when he had 8.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game.

This recent season, Gwath averaged 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

Maybe most intriguing is that Gwath actually has some elements of being a perimeter player. He shoots 40.7% from 3 as a collegian, including 43.5% in 2025-26.

So if Kentucky gets Gwath, the Wildcats get a player who both protects the rim and knocks down his 3s. It makes him seem like a seriously high upside potential pickup.

Kentucky fans sure will be hoping that crystal ball is right on this one.
