If you are not on board with Kenny Brooks, it's time to jump on the bandwagon, folks. At Historic Memorial Coliseum, this is a talented team that is getting ready to start their third straight season in the top 25. And this year is the highest-ranked they have been in over a decade.
When Coach Brooks was hired in 2024, he brought All-American Georgia Amoore with him from Virginia Tech, immediately elevating the program and leading the Cats to a ranking of 22nd. The Cats started the following year ranked 24th. Those Cats made a thrilling run to the Sweet 16 before falling to Texas.
Now, entering the 2026-27 campaign, Brooks has put together another loaded roster, this time with a little more youth. He added three highly-touted freshmen: McDonald's All-Americans Maddyn Greenway, Saavy Swords, and Emily McDonald.
Thanks to that massive influx of talent, the Cats debuted at No. 14 in the preseason Coaches Poll released on Tuesday. This marks Brooks' third consecutive year starting the season in the top 25, and Kentucky's highest preseason Coaches Poll ranking since the 2013-14 season.
And after watching this team in practice and at media day, if they get hot from deep, they'll be a very hard team to beat.
So, if you haven't yet, it's a great time to look into some tickets and get in HMC and root for a team that has all the makings of something incredibly special.
The season tips off Monday, November 2nd against Morehead at 6:30. Tickets can be purchased here.
