NHL veteran Corey Perry decided that he's not ready to hang up the skates just yet, and he's once again heading back to a place where he had already been once before, very recently, in his career.
Perry is coming back to the Los Angeles Kings , where he had signed during last offseason, to another one-year contract .
Perry began last season with the Kings, but would be traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning , with whom he'd already played earlier in his career, at the NHL Trade Deadline; he and the Lightning would be eliminated in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Montreal Canadiens .
Perry originally began his career as a member of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, who selected him with the 28th overall pick in the loaded 2003 NHL Draft. He would eventually make his NHL debut in the 2025-26 season, and became a regular contributor to the club, helping them win their first and only Stanley Cup to date in 2007.
Perry would play several more seasons with the Ducks before eventually joining the Dallas Stars in 2019, and would later go on to play for the Montreal Canadiens, Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks , Edmonton Oilers , and Kings.
He has the unfortunate distinction of being the first player in NHL history to lose four Final series with four different teams, having lost in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025.
So far in 1,464 career NHL games, Perry has scored 465 goals with 507 assists, along with accumulating 1,568 penalty minutes. He's also added 64 goals and 77 assists in 244 career playoff games.
