Klay Thompson had a massive lowlight in the Miami Heat's loss to the Dallas Mavericks, and fans aren't letting him get away with it online.
The Miami Heat are now 0-4 to start the season after their 113-109 loss against the Dallas Mavericks. Despite a lot of excitement following their big offseason roster overhaul and superstar signings, things are not panning out for the franchise at the moment.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has started the season playing at quite a high level. The team has not meshed together well, though. His co-star, Bam Adebayo, has been criticised for his level of play. Backcourt addition and former four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson is also in the hot seat.
In the first four games of this season, Thompson has averaged just 9.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. He is shooting an abysmal 32 percent from the field, including 33 percent from three-point range. Numbers like these don't generally equate to high impact.
Thompson hasn't been at his All-Star best for some years now. If he is not even a shooting threat, though, that effectively nullifies what he should be bringing to the team. A lowlight of Klay hitting the side of the backboard from the Mavs game went viral, and fans on X let the ex-Warriors star hear it.
"Had the audacity to hold his follow through on that one too. He has no shame," one fan said. "He is just hurting his legacy at this point," a different reply to the video read. "Thanks Klay, for going undercover to Miami and helping us out," another fan claimed.
"Couldn't believe some fans wanted him to stay at GSW. I love and appreciate Klay, but he has been finished for years at this point," a fourth comment read. "He needs to retire or go to Shanghai," a fifth fan said. "Love him for what he did as a Warrior, but glad I don't have to see this," another fan wrote.
It is safe to say that Thompson's career with the Heat isn't off to the best start. The roster needs to figure something out, especially their stars, before the situation gets even uglier for Miami. Klay needs a big shooting night quickly, and the team needs to get their first win.
