The New York Knicks just won an NBA Championship, their first since 1973. But can they repeat with basically the same players ? What about adding Zion Williamson to their team? That would definitely help in their bid for a repeat.
The NBA has not had back-to-back champions for eight straight years. The last team to do it was the Golden State Warriors from 2017 to 2018. If recent history is any guide, there's a good chance the Knicks won't win it in 2027.

It may be time to trade for a bona fide star to pair with Jalen Brunson next season.

With Williamson's career going nowhere with the New Orleans Pelicans, a fresh start may be needed. Will that new start be with the New York Knicks? NY needs some muscle at the power forward spot alongside Karl-Anthony Towns.
And there's a path there, too. Here is the proposed trade that would solidify New York's bid to repeat next season.
Pelicans receive:Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, 2027 second-round pick (via WAS), 2033 first-round pick
Knicks receive:Zion Williamson, Yves Missi

The Pelicans land two legitimate players who can help them vie for a playoff spot in the West in 2027. Plus, they would get future assets in 2027 and 2033.
The Knicks, meanwhile, land another star to pair with Brunson. They would also get talented young center Yves Missi in return. Most importantly, the trade would distance the Knicks further from the second apron.
Williamson's Injury History Might Be A Concern

While injuries hampered the talented bruiser in the past, Zion Williamson actually appeared in 62 games last season. That number is the second-highest total so far in his six-year career.

It's important to note, though, that out of a possible 492 games, Zion has only played 276 contests so far in his career. It's a 50/50 gamble for New York, but it may be worth it, especially if Williamson can stay healthy.
Off-court issues aside , going to a big market team like the Knicks might be good for the 26-year-old.
