Following their fourth quarter collapse against the Atlanta Hawks in Game 2 of their series, New York Knicks superfan Ben Stiller knows what he wants to see out of Karl-Anthony Towns (KAT) and Jalen Brunson .
He took to X, formerly Twitter, the morning after the Knicks’ Game 2 loss to the Hawks to give his two cents on the team’s problems, writing, “BRUNSON/KAT only works when they are on the floor.”
One fan commented that “they were on the floor,” however, “only one person got to touch the ball in the 4th [quarter].” Stiller elaborated that they weren’t on the floor together for “half of the fourth.”
Another fan commented, saying that Stiller is “better than this,” calling his post a “casual fan take” and reminding him that he’s “not Mike Brown,” New York’s head coach.
“I make no claims and am not anti Mike. I just want our best players on the floor in playoff games,” Stiller said, refuting the fan’s claims.
Did KAT and Jalen Brunson play together in the Knicks’ Game 2 loss vs. the Hawks?
Brunson and Towns both played heavy minutes in Game 2 against the Hawks. The former played 35 minutes, while the latter played 34. However, as Stiller noted, they didn’t always share the floor in the final period.
They were the team’s leading scorers regardless. Brunson led the Knicks with 29 points, and Towns scored 18 points while making eight of his 12 shots. Towns also had eight rebounds, tied with OG Anunoby for the second-most behind Josh Hart (13) in the game on the team.
The Knicks entered the fourth quarter up 12 points on the Hawks. If they had held on, they would be up 2-0 in the series heading into Atlanta for Games 3 and 4.
New York was outclassed and outscored 28-15 in the fourth quarter, losing the game by one point. That has to sting, and they have two days to regroup before the next time they play the Hawks.
