The 2026 Kentucky football season is now just two days away, and fans are gearing up for the Will Stein era. As we count down the days until game one, we're also getting to know the players on the roster. Today, we're taking a look at No. 2, Sam Greene .
Greene is a 6'2", 251 lb edge rusher out of Washington, D.C. A member of the 2023 recruiting class, he was rated three stars by 247Sports , and ranked as the No. 482 overall player in their composite rankings.

Schools like Texas A&M , Syracuse, and Penn State all offered Greene, but he committed to the USC Trojans . There, he would redshirt as a freshman after playing in three games. He had 3 tackles for a loss and a sack in 2024 before entering the transfer portal, and ending up in Lexington.
In 2025, Greene played in nine games before an injury ended his season. He did record 25 tackles and a sack before the injury, and showed flashes of his potential.
Finding a steady pass rush will be key for the Kentucky defense in 2026, and Greene could be a big part of that. Coach Stein has had good things to say, and if he stays healthy, he could have a breakout season.
