- Get to know the Kentucky football roster: No. 97 Tyler Thomas
As summertime approaches, so does the Kentucky Wildcats football season. The Will Stein era will officially begin on Sep. 5 when the Cats take on Youngstown State, and fans are excited to see the team he has put together. There are a lot of new faces, but some familiar ones as well, and fans will need to get to know all of them.
Game one of the season is now 97 days away, and so we will take a look at every player on the roster, one day at a time. Wearing No. 97 this season is one of the new players on this year's roster: Tyler Thomas .
Thomas is a 6'5", 260 lb edge rusher who spent the last two seasons at South Alabama after redshirting as a freshman at UAB. He was unranked as a recruit, but played his way into the regular rotation after transferring. Last season, he was credited with 17 tackles, 2 sacks, and 3.5 tackles for a loss.
Though he won't start for Kentucky, he should be in the rotation on the edge. There is talent there, and if he can tap into it and continue to improve, he could be a guy they count on heavily in 2027. This year, they hope he provides some quality depth.
