Jalen Brunson 's title-clinching performance for the New York Knicks drew a two-word reaction from Vanessa Bryant that carried far more meaning than a typical congratulatory post.
The Knicks had waited decades for another championship, and Brunson delivered the closing act with the kind of ruthless focus usually attached to the sport's great postseason closers.
After New York secured the title, Vanessa posted an image of Brunson to her Instagram story and tied the moment to one of Kobe Bryant 's most iconic Finals quotes. The message was brief, but the reference made it instantly recognizable.

As shared by Legion Hoops on X , Vanessa Bryant posted a two-word message to her Instagram story with an image of Brunson following the Knicks' NBA Finals win.
"Job's finished," Bryant wrote on her story.
The message resonated because it reversed Kobe's famous response during the 2009 NBA Finals. After the Los Angeles Lakers took a 2-0 lead over the Orlando Magic , Bryant was asked why he was not smiling, and he made clear there was nothing to celebrate until the title was won.
That answer became one of the clearest public examples of Kobe's championship mentality. Vanessa using the finished version for Brunson marked the difference between chasing the trophy and actually completing the run.
Brunson's Game 5 performance gave the message extra force. He scored 45 points as the Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 to clinch the championship, then received Finals MVP honors for completing one of the most important playoff runs in franchise history.
New York had not won the NBA title since 1973, which made the final step feel heavier than a typical championship closeout. Brunson was not just finishing a series; he was ending a wait that had defined generations of Knicks fans.
The Kobe connection also fits because Brunson's postseason identity has been built around control, footwork, toughness and late-game nerve. He does not resemble Bryant physically, but the competitive framing around the moment was clear.
Vanessa's post did not need a long caption to explain it. By writing "Job's finished" over Brunson's image, she placed his championship night inside a basketball phrase that already means focus, pressure and completion.
