In doing so, Knueppel passed UConn legend and current Hornets coach Kemba Walker, who previously held the record.
That said, the two Hornets are now memorialized together in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
Following the game, Knueppel's game-worn shoes from the record-breaking game were put on display.
Right behind them in the display case is one of Walker's UConn jerseys from his time with the Huskies.
Although the two never played together, two of the organization's finest will remain in history side by side.
