Tom and Brexton Busch delivered one of the most touching moments of the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The family-led tribute honored Kyle Busch with a ceremonial lap in his No. 51 Legends car. Tom Busch drove the car while Brexton served as the honorary starter for the special moment.

The tribute carried obvious weight because it connected three generations of the Busch family at a track central to NASCAR history. It was a quiet, visual ceremony built around legacy rather than spectacle.

Tom Busch drove Kyle's No. 51 during the ceremony
The tribute happened during Charlotte Motor Speedway's annual Summer Shootout. Tom got behind the wheel of Kyle's No. 51 Legends car and led the field for the ceremonial lap.
The rest of the field followed behind before peeling away, leaving Tom to complete the lap alone. That detail gave the tribute its most powerful image, with the car finishing the lap in a moment of isolation and remembrance.

Brexton Busch also played a central role in the ceremony. Kyle's 11-year-old son waved both the green flag and the checkered flag as his grandfather carried the No. 51 around the track.
Brexton's role gave the tribute deeper meaning
Brexton's presence added another layer to an already emotional scene. He is also competing in the Summer Shootout, continuing his own development as a young racer.
That made the ceremony feel less like a closing image and more like a family bridge across generations. Tom represented the foundation, Kyle's car represented the legacy and Brexton represented what continues next.

The tribute also reflected the scale of Kyle Busch's place in NASCAR. His record across the Cup Series, O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and Truck Series remains one of the most decorated resumes in stock car racing.
For Charlotte, the lap was a respectful way to honor that impact without overcomplicating the emotion. Tom and Brexton Busch led the moment, and the No. 51 car said the rest.
