Kyle Tucker is the biggest free agent on the market, with MLB rumors linking him to several landing spots. Tucker became a free agent after spending the 2025 MLB season with the Chicago Cubs , and he could earn up to $400 million when he finally signs his next contract.
Last offseason, the star outfielder was traded from the Houston Astros to the Cubs. The Astros maximized his value with one year left on his deal. While Houston doesn't seem to be a factor in Tucker's market, he appears to be in line for a very big payday, despite not signing yet.

The free-agent outfielder can change the present and future of an MLB organization, but it could take $400 million to get the job done. Below, we dive into five landing spots for Tucker as MLB rumors continue to pin him to specific teams!

The Los Angeles Dodgers love to sign big-time free agents, and Tucker could be next on the list. The biggest issue for Los Angeles will be its commitment, as it doesn't want to give out long contracts this winter. If Tucker wants to take a shorter contract with more AAV, the Dodgers would be the perfect team. It might not be the likeliest outcome, but it can never be ruled out.

The Toronto Blue Jays have the most buzz around Tucker, as the organization looks to make another big splash. Toronto already signed starting pitcher Dylan Cease for $210 million , and could be the organization that gives Tucker the most money overall. If so, the former Cub could be calling Canada home when the 2026 MLB season is underway.

The New York Yankees would have a logjam in the outfield if Tucker signs; however, it would be worth the extra maneuvering. Tucker is an elite player and would benefit from playing with Aaron Judge in the outfield. It is unclear how much the Yankees would be willing to spend on Tucker, but the organization is clearly looking for a star outfielder as it continues to pursue Cody Bellinger .

The New York Mets need to make a splash. After losing Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz , New York has significantly regressed in its lineup and bullpen. The Mets also need starting pitching, but adding Tucker to the lineup would complement Juan Soto . The organization might not have the desire to hand out a $300 to $400 million contract this offseason, but Tucker would be worth it.
Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are likely the most unlikely landing spot of the five teams, but there could be a scenario where Tucker returns to Wrigley Field. If the other organizations leave Tucker's market or don't want to sign him long-term, Chicago could swoop in and give out a short-term deal. Tucker is likely to maximize his value in MLB free agency, but a return to the Cubs can't be fully ruled out yet.
