With the series between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder coming up in the second round of the NBA Playoffs, the former is coming off a hard-fought series against the Houston Rockets . After the Lakers eliminated the Rockets in the playoffs , head coach JJ Redick takes a look at the team’s next opponent and drops a bold declaration on how great the Thunder currently are.
Speaking to the media ahead of Game 1, Redick would say that Oklahoma City right now is “one of the greatest teams ever in NBA history,” as the head coach was talking about other all-time teams with impeccable net ratings.
This is next to other historic squads like the Chicago Bulls in the mid-to-late 1990s with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and others, and the mid-2010s Golden State Warriors , including Stephen Curry , Kevin Durant , Klay Thompson , and Draymond Green .
“We saw a stat in our morning meeting, teams that have had back-to-back, 10 or more better net ratings in consecutive seasons, you’re talking about the ’95-’96 Bulls and ’96-’97 Bulls, and the ’15-’17 Warriors. You’re literally talking about two of the greatest teams of all time,” Redick said, according to Khobi Price.
“I said to a bunch of people yesterday, off-site, talking about this series, to me, the Thunder is one of the greatest teams ever in NBA history. It’s just the reality,” Redick continued. “They’re that good. I think our guys recognize that and respect that, and we know what kind of task we have in front of us.”
At any rate, Los Angeles has a tall task ahead of them against the mighty Thunder ahead of Game 1 on Tuesday. There’s no denying that fans wonder if superstar Luka Doncic can join LeBron James and Austin Reaves during the series in the hopes of making it exciting.
