Lamine Yamal's breakout season hit a concerning moment on Wednesday, as the Barcelona star left the pitch immediately after converting a penalty against Celta Vigo . The 18-year-old created the chance himself and calmly finished from the spot, but instead of celebrating, he dropped to the ground and signaled for medical attention, ESPN reports.

Replays showed Yamal clutching his hamstring right after the kick, raising immediate concern. He received treatment on the field before walking off, though he could not continue. Barcelona substituted him just before halftime, ending what had started as another impactful outing.
The match itself faced an unusual delay as well, pausing for nearly 20 minutes due to a medical emergency in the stands. Play resumed once the supporter received care, with the first half extending well beyond its usual time.
Injury concern raises major stakes for Barcelona and Spain
Early reports suggest the injury could carry serious implications. According to Mundo Deportivo, initial evaluations point toward a hamstring tear, an outcome that could sideline Yamal for the remainder of the domestic season and place his World Cup availability in doubt.

Further testing is expected to confirm the severity, with scans scheduled shortly after the match. Barcelona now awaits clarity on one of its most productive players, who has delivered 24 goals and 17 assists across competitions this season.
Yamal has dealt with minor physical issues before, including groin discomfort, but he has remained largely available throughout the campaign. This latest setback, however, presents a different level of concern given the timing and potential long-term impact.
Barcelona, and Spain, now face an anxious wait as one of football's brightest young talents undergoes evaluation.
