Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Volunteers have one final spot to fill on their roster. The Vols have had a very productive offseason in the transfer portal, and they’re looking to add one more player.

It’s no secret that Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Vols are looking to add another big man to the roster.

Tennessee has landed seven transfer additions over the last several weeks to pair with four high school signees and returning players DeWayne Brown and Troy Henderson.

VolQuest’s Austin Price said on Tuesday during an appearance on 104.5 The Zone's Ramon and Will that Tennessee will likely recruit a few “lesser names”.

"Tennessee is going to continue to recruit probably a few lesser names," said Price. "We'll see who they can get to campus over the next few days. I think Tennessee's been talking to a couple of guys. But no visits have been officially set up to this point."

The Vols hosted a visitor on Wednesday that seems to confirm Price’s intel.

Tennessee hosts VCU transfer Christian Fermin on a visit

According to multiple reports — including GoVols247 and Rocky Top Insider — the Vols are hosting VCU transfer forward Christian Fermin on a visit on Wednesday.

Fermin, 6-foot-10/225 pounds from Tobyhanna, PA, fits the profile of potential depth addition for the Volunteers.

The transfer forward played in just four games last season while dealing with some stuff away from the court and averaged just 0.8 points per game.

For his career, though, Fermin has averaged 4.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.

Hosting Fermin on a visit certainly seems to indicate that Tennessee won’t be taking a swing at a big name (not that many big names are available still). Instead, this would appear to confirm that Barnes is looking for a big man who can serve as depth.

Fermin, who spent the last four seasons at VCU, has averaged 17.5 minutes per game for his career, so he could be an ideal option to fill that role for the Vols.
