The Atlanta Hawks are in a unique position that other teams can't relate to. They have a chance to make the playoffs while also having the opportunity at a draft pick in the lottery.
With them having the better selection between the New Orleans Pelicans and Milwaukee Bucks ' pick, they could end up with one of the top players in the draft. In the latest ClutchPoints' mock draft , Brett Siegel has the Hawks selecting Keaton Wagler from Illinois.
"What makes Wagler such an intriguing combo guard in this draft class is his do-it-all mentality and ability to use his athleticism to his advantage as a second-chance rebounder and versatile defender," Siegel wrote. "Despite being 19 years old, Wagler is very poised and mature as a combo guard on- or off-the-ball.
"Every team wants guards who can wear multiple hats and not be a liability on defense. That is why plenty of lottery teams view Wagler as one of the best low-risk, high-reward prospects who will only continue to get better."
The Hawks could use another guard on the team, and someone like Wagler would fit in perfectly with what they like to do on both sides of the ball.
The Hawks also have the Cleveland Cavaliers ' pick, and that one will most likely be in the 20s. With the 23rd pick, Siegel has them selecting Cedric Cenac Jr. from Houston .
"Although Cenac is a great rebounder, teams still want to see more of Cenac playing on the perimeter and being a facilitator who can create action with running guards," Siegel wrote. "As far as the Atlanta Hawks go, they could use more depth behind Onyeka Okongwu , and Cenac would be worth the investment at this point in the draft."
The Hawks will have to address their center depth this offseason, and getting a prospect like Cenac could be the beginning of fixing that.
