Anthony Edwards was instrumental during the 2026 NBA All-Star Game and earned the Kobe Bryant Trophy as MVP. The honour marked another significant step in his continued rise within the league.
Following the contest, James was invited to reflect on Edwards' performance and overall presence. His response highlighted both Edwards' ability and character.
"Love Ant-Man. Everything about him. On the court, off the court. Happy for him, first of many All-Star MVPs for him. I love Ant, he's got a fan in me and a friend in me for life."
The endorsement carries particular significance given James' stature in the sport. Appearing in his 22nd All-Star Game, he has seen multiple eras of talent emerge.
Edwards' MVP display further reinforced his status as one of the league's standout young stars. His blend of confidence and production has positioned him as a cornerstone for the Timberwolves .
James' comments also reflect a broader pattern within the NBA, where established veterans openly acknowledge the next generation. Rather than framing the moment through rivalry, he chose appreciation.
The phrase "for life" stood out in particular. It suggested a level of personal respect that goes beyond a single exhibition performance.
As Edwards continues to build his profile, support from figures such as James strengthens his growing influence. For now, the message from one generation to another is unmistakable.
