LeBron James responded after it was confirmed that Bill Belichick did not make the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
The decision came despite Belichick's six Super Bowl titles as a head coach and decades of sustained success in the NFL.
James addressed the situation directly on social media as reactions began to surface.
"Man there's no way I read that right! Right? Ain't no WAY Bill Belichick ain't 1st Ballot HOF!! That's IMPOSSIBLE, EGREGIOUS, and quite frankly DISRESPECTFUL!" James wrote.
The message was widely shared and added momentum to the growing criticism surrounding the decision.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also reacted publicly as the news broke, echoing the disbelief expressed by James.
"Insane… don't even understand how this could be possible," Mahomes wrote.
Former Houston Texans star J.J. Watt shared a similar reaction, questioning how Bill Belichick could miss out on first-ballot induction.
"This has to be some knock-off Hall of Fame or something, it can't be the actual NFL Hall of Fame. There is not a single world whatsoever in which Bill Belichick should not be a First-Ballot Hall of Famer," Watt wrote.
