LeBron joked that Texans' Will Anderson Jr. is his 'fourth child'
It's no secret that many, if not most, football fans are also basketball fans, and vice versa. Players from the NFL often attend NBA games, and during Game 6 between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets on Friday, a big Houston Texans star was in attendance at the Toyota Center.
Will Anderson Jr., the Texans' star defensive end, had seats near the court for the contest. He may have been disappointed that Houston lost to the Lakers, 98-78 , but at one point during the game, he helped James get up when the superstar fell.
There is an online joke that since Anderson looks similar to James' son Bronny , he is the future Hall of Famer's son. The elder James played along with the joke afterward, per Jonathan Alexander of The Houston Chronicle .
“What was the moment like? The moment was pretty cool. Yeah I just said it’s good to see him. That’s my fourth child. Him and Bronny are twins and nobody knows it. Me and Savannah been trying to keep it under wraps for a long time. But no, no disrespect to his parents. Unbelievable football player, deserving of everything that he’s got. It was definitely good to see him.”
Anderson is one of the NFL's better young edge rushers, and this past season, he had 12 sacks, 23 quarterback hits and 20 tackles for loss while making his second Pro Bowl in his three seasons in the league and finishing second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting. He's part of a promising young core for the Texans that includes quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was the Rookie of the Year for the 2023 campaign.
The Lakers will now head north to face the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round of the playoffs. After posting 28 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in Friday's game, the elder James will look to add another playoff series upset to his resume.
