Leeds United are already growing worried about potentially losing their star centre-back Tarik Muharemovic.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Whites have to resist any urges to cash in on the 23-year-old.
Muharemovic only joined Leeds in a £34million deal from Sassuolo this summer, but is already attracting interest from the likes of Bayern Munich.
Wyness believes that Leeds cannot allow themselves to become tempted by the chance to make a quick profit on the young starlet.
Muharemovic has played every single minute of Leeds' opening eight Premier League games so far this season, and has quickly become a key figure for Daniel Farke.
Leeds appear to have a future star on their hands, but Wyness is adamant that they cannot see the pound signs just yet.
Leeds to play long game with Tarik Muharemovic
Everton's former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Leeds have to think long-term when it comes to the defender's future.
The Scottish businessman feels that Muharemovic will be crucial to help the West Yorkshire outfit re-establish themselves as a top-half Premier League club in the coming years.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast , Wyness made it clear that Leeds will have plenty of opportunities to cash in on Muharemovic in future.
"There is that concern about losing him. Leeds have got to be realistic, and I think the target is still: let's not get in a relegation battle, let's stay mid-table, let's consolidate and then move forward," he said.
"The club's in that interesting phase. They've got to hang on to all that young talent they've got right now; forget about cashing in because they've got to consolidate that position in the Premier League, and they've got to do whatever it takes to get there.
"You know, they're backing Farke. The squad's doing okay. Leeds are doing fine. And I just don't think there's any need to do anything silly.
"So if I were them, and I'm sure they will, they'll want to keep him because there'll be plenty more years to think about a move and cashing in. But right now, consolidate and keep everything going the right way."
Calvert-Lewin is 'going to be loyal to Leeds' as 'temptations' emerge Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be loyal to Leeds
Wyness previously told Football Insiderearlier this week that striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has no intention of pushing to depart Leeds any time soon.
The frontman has emerged as a surprise target for Manchester United, but has no desire to cross that bitter divide.
Wyness believes that Calvert-Lewin will resist the "temptations" of a move elsewhere, and will commit his future to Leeds.
The club are reportedly working on a new deal at the moment, with his current contract due to expire in the summer of 2028.
