LeBron James ' legendary All-NBA streak has officially ended after 21 consecutive seasons.
The Los Angeles Lakers forward was ruled out of Tuesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs because of left foot arthritis.

That absence marked his 18th missed game of the campaign and pushed him below the NBA's 65-game requirement for major awards eligibility. The milestone confirms the close of one of the most extraordinary individual runs in league history.

LeBron ruled ineligible under 65-game threshold
NBA rules require players to appear in at least 65 regular-season games to qualify for All-NBA honours and other top awards. By missing his 18th contest, James no longer meets that standard.
The outcome ends a record 21-season streak of All-NBA selections that spanned multiple teams and generations. His consistency across two decades had set a benchmark for sustained excellence.

The Lakers confirmed his latest absence as he continues to manage arthritis in his left foot. That decision cemented his ineligibility for this season's honours.
Lakers dealing with mounting injuries
James' absence comes during a broader injury spell for Los Angeles . Luka Doncic remains sidelined with a left hamstring strain, while Austin Reaves is managing a left calf issue and Marcus Smart is battling right ankle soreness.
Head coach JJ Redick addressed the games-played rule before the Spurs matchup and acknowledged its influence on award voting.
He noted that while the threshold provides structure, there have been cases where players with fewer appearances still warranted recognition.

Regardless of the debate surrounding the rule, the decision is final. For the first time in more than 20 years, LeBron James will not be named to an All-NBA team.
The end of the streak underscores both the physical toll of a long NBA career and the impact of the league's updated eligibility standards.
