Liverpool and Manchester City to go head-to-head for £35m star
Liverpool are currently sixth in the Premier League.
At the moment, they're performing worse in England's top flight than they did last term as, when Arne Slot was in charge, they won all five of their opening games.

But now, they're six points adrift of the league leaders with nobody knowing how well they're actually going to perform this season.
A fair few players were brought to Anfield over the summer and, even though more than £150 million was spent on new talent , there are still some voids that the Reds need to fill.
Obviously, the transfer window is shut at the moment so no deals can be sanctioned just yet but, ahead of the winter window, Liverpool can certainly draw up a shortlist of players they'd like.
And, at the moment, that feels like what they're trying to do with every spare chance they get.

Marcos Llorente is now wanted by Liverpool and Manchester City
As mentioned, there are still a fair few areas among Liverpool's ranks that could do with an upgrade.
Their defence was shored up fairly well with the additions of Ronald Araujo and Jeremy Jacquet .
However, if they want to start competing for silverware and add a few more trophies to their cabinet, they're going to need at least two top-class players per position.
If they're versatile enough to play in more than one area of the squad, that would be even better.
This is why TEAMtalk's fresh update about Liverpool's interest in Marcos Llorente should be something that piques the interest of the Reds' fanbase.

"Marcos Llorente is attracting interest from the Premier League, with his current Atletico Madrid contract due to expire next summer, and TEAMtalk understands Liverpool, Chelsea , and Manchester City are keen on a potential deal," they wrote .
"Atletico are already in talks with Llorente over fresh terms and we understand there is huge confidence within the Spanish club that an agreement will be reached.
"However, the situation has attracted serious attention from England, with three of the Premier League's biggest clubs assessing whether the 31-year-old could become available.
"Liverpool and Chelsea are assessing their options at right-back and in midfield as they plan for 2027, making Llorente's profile particularly appealing to both clubs.

"Man City are also monitoring the situation after losing a number of experienced players and are understood to view Llorente as an intriguing option who could bring versatility and proven experience to Enzo Maresca's squad."
Liverpool signing Marcos Llorente would be a complete shock
Liverpool fans will mostly know Llorente for his rather exceptional performances again the Reds .
Almost every single time he's played against the Reds, he's been one of Atletico's best players with their latest meeting in the Champions League seeing the Spaniard net the first goal of the game.

Back in 2019, Llorente was bought for around £35 million by Atletico from arch-rivals, Real Madrid .
At the time, the transfer was rather controversial but, in the end, Llorente cemented himself as one of Diego Simeone's best players.
Llorente has been around for as long as many can remember and, since he's already 31 years old, he probably doesn't have all that much time left at the top.
But, for a few seasons, he could be an extremely solid acquisition for Liverpool, especially since he can play as a right-back or a number six.
Obviously, with his deal to stay at Atletico being close to getting over the line, Iraola and Julian Ward will have to act quick, especially since Man City are also eyeing a move for him.
