Jon Aramburu transfer latest as Manchester City track Real Sociedad right-back
Manchester City are among the Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on Jon Aramburu, with the Real Sociedad defender emerging as a serious option in a market that is becoming increasingly active around specialist full-backs. As first reported by Teamtalk , Liverpool have also gathered encouraging feedback on the Venezuela international, while several other English sides have checked on his situation.

Aramburu, now 24, has built a growing reputation in LaLiga through consistency, defensive reliability and tactical flexibility. Those qualities are always likely to attract attention from recruitment departments in England, especially when clubs are assessing depth and long-term planning in wide defensive areas. His ability to operate primarily at right-back, while also covering left-back, adds another layer of appeal.
Man City assess right-back market
City's interest makes obvious sense. Their search parameters have included a number of right-back profiles and that process has involved checks on different styles of player. Aramburu appears to sit in a category valued by top clubs, a defender capable of handling one-against-one situations first and foremost, then contributing further forward when needed. That balance is important, particularly for teams that dominate possession and ask their full-backs to solve multiple tactical problems in a single match.

The report states, "Man City are among those to have been impressed and have carried out checks on the defender as they assess options for a new right-back." It also adds that Aramburu was considered alongside other names explored during the summer. That points more towards serious monitoring than casual admiration.
Liverpool interest adds pressure
Liverpool's own checks underline the level Aramburu has reached. With their recruitment team examining the full-back market, his profile has evidently stood out for positive reasons. Teamtalk reports, "Liverpool have also carried out checks on Aramburu, with sources telling us that the reports on the player have been hugely positive." For a player established at Sociedad and still under a long contract, that sort of wording matters.
There is no suggestion yet that a move is imminent, but when both City and Liverpool are doing work on the same player, it usually means the internal discussions are meaningful. Tottenham , Newcastle United , Everton and Fulham are also said to have looked at him, which only reinforces the sense that Aramburu is moving into a different bracket of market attention.

£50m clause sets transfer framework
Real Sociedad are protected by contract. Aramburu is tied down until 2030, and that gives the Spanish club considerable control. Even so, the existence of a release clause changes the conversation, because interested clubs know the level required to test the situation. According to Teamtalk, "Aramburu's contract contains a release clause of around £50million, giving interested clubs a clear indication of the potential cost involved in securing his services."
That figure places him in a premium category, though not an unrealistic one for leading Premier League clubs. For City in particular, the decision may come down to whether they view Aramburu as the best fit stylistically, rather than merely a strong option among several under review. What is clear is that the scouting work has been done, the reports are positive and a competitive situation could develop quickly if one club decides to move first.
Our View
From a Manchester City perspective, this is the sort of report that immediately grabs attention because the profile feels credible. Jon Aramburu sounds like a player built for serious tactical football. Defensive discipline, comfort in duels and the ability to cover both full-back positions are all valuable traits in a squad expected to compete across every front.

The £50m figure is sizeable, but not outrageous in the current market for a 24-year-old with room to grow and strong top-level experience. City supporters will probably focus on the defensive side first. There has been a clear need at times for greater certainty in transition moments and one-against-one defending out wide. If Aramburu excels there, it is easy to understand why he has entered the conversation.
There is also something encouraging about City looking beyond the most obvious names. Not every successful signing needs to be the loudest one. Sometimes the smartest additions are the players whose strengths are already tailored to the demands of elite football. If Liverpool are receiving strong reports too, that only adds to the intrigue.
For now, it feels like a situation to watch rather than one on the brink of completion. But if City want him, they may need to move decisively. Once multiple Premier League clubs circle a player with a defined clause and rising stock, these situations can accelerate very quickly.
