Liverpool transfer news: Valencia move to double David Otorbi release clause
Valencia are moving to strengthen their position over David Otorbi's future after reported Liverpool interest prompted an early decision on his contract.

The Spanish club have informed the winger that they intend to activate a three-year extension, according to Sergi Martínez's report for Tribuna Deportiva. That would keep Otorbi under contract until 2031 and increase his release clause from €30 million to €60 million.
For Liverpool, the significance is clear. A potential route to signing the player at the lower figure could soon become substantially more expensive. However, the report describes paperwork still awaiting signature, rather than an extension already formally completed.

David Otorbi contract decision follows Liverpool contacts
Tribuna Deportiva reports that Liverpool have intensified their contacts in recent days and are the club pushing hardest to explore a move for Otorbi.

The interest is said to have reached the point of considering payment of his existing €30 million release clause.
That is an important distinction from a completed bid or a decision to trigger the clause. The report does not establish that Liverpool have made a payment, reached an agreement with the player or secured his departure.
What it does describe is interest serious enough to influence Valencia's response.
Rather than wait for Otorbi to reach ten first-team appearances, the club have reportedly decided to activate the extension now. The timing suggests Valencia want greater contractual protection before any interested side can make further progress.

Valencia extension would reshape transfer terms
The proposed change would add three seasons to Otorbi's agreement and double the release clause attached to it.
A €60 million clause would create a different financial proposition for any club considering that route to a transfer. It would also reinforce Valencia's position if an interested buyer instead sought negotiations.
The clause should not be confused with an independently established market valuation or a confirmed asking price for a negotiated sale. It is a contractual figure, and its reported increase reflects Valencia's intention to strengthen their control over the player's future.

According to Tribuna Deportiva, the documentation is expected to be signed the following week, with an official announcement anticipated soon afterwards.
Until that process is completed, the distinction between Valencia's stated intention and a formalised agreement remains relevant. There is no confirmed Liverpool response to the proposed change in the report.
Improved financial terms remain for later discussion
The extension is not the only contractual matter under consideration.
Valencia and Otorbi's representatives have reportedly agreed to meet later to discuss improved financial terms for next season. That indicates the immediate move concerns the duration of his deal and the release clause, with remuneration still to be addressed separately.

For Valencia, retaining a promising academy player involves more than limiting the options of potential buyers. The club must also manage his development and ensure the agreement reflects his growing involvement.
The report does not provide details of any proposed salary or suggest those later discussions have already produced an agreement.
Those negotiations will therefore form another part of the process as Valencia seek to turn their early contractual action into longer-term stability.
Paterna prospect attracts attention through performances
Otorbi's progress this season provides the footballing context for the interest.

Tribuna Deportiva describes the right-footed winger as one of the standout performers at the beginning of the campaign and among the most promising players developed at Paterna. He has scored once this season.
Those details explain why Valencia are keen to protect his future, although they do not establish how Liverpool would plan to use him or whether a transfer will follow.
For now, the story is being driven by Valencia's response to reported interest. Liverpool are said to have explored the possibility of meeting a €30 million clause, while the Spanish club are moving to raise that figure to €60 million.
The next concrete development would be the signing and confirmation of the extension. Until then, both the contractual change and any Liverpool move remain unfinished business.
