Andoni Iraola's side won their first game of the season, and the Spanish coach's first as Reds boss. Two goals from Alexander Isak, set up both times by Cody Gakpo, and a very professional performance all round as Liverpool left Ipswich with a clean sheet and three points.

Alisson Becker - 6/10
Looked unconvincing from a couple of corners, and his distribution was questionable at times, but he kept his first clean sheet of the season.
Milos Kerkez - 7/10
Much better from Kerkez, especially defensively, won the ball back for Isak's first goal.
Virgil Van Dijk - 7/10
The stronger of LFC's two central defenders was assured on the ball as always, cutting out a few crucial balls in behind from Ipswich.

Jeremy Jacquet - 6.5/10
Made an important early block early in the game, but was fortunate not to see a second yellow card.
Ronald Araujo - 7/10
Looked very solid at right-back and dealt with the threat posed by Ipswich's wide men.

Alexis Mac Allister - 7/10
The deeper of the two central midfielders, linked defence to attack well, and part of a midfield that looked a lot more structured out of possession.
Dominik Szoboszlai - 7.5/10
Played in three different positions during the game, and looked natural in all of them.
Cody Gakpo - 8/10
The Dutch winger continued right from where he left off before Deadline Day, and played two superb assists for Alexander Isak, and looked sharp when he was on the ball.

Florian Wirtz - 6/10
A quiet game from the playmaker, linked things together nicely, but the goals from Liverpool came from out wide, rather than centrally.

Victor Munoz - 6/10
A less effective game from the Spanish winger, who showed his electric pace a few times, but had little impact on the final third.
Alexander Isak - 8/10
Scored twice and looked a threat for the 60 minutes he played, he will be hoping he has finally arrived in a Liverpool shirt.

Played quite deep when he came on, didn't do much, but fans will be glad to see the Frenchman make his debut .

Helped see the game out and provide energy in the middle of the pitch.
Trey Nyoni - 5/10
Came on for the last 10 minutes, but fans will be happy to see him still at Liverpool, after a late bid from Nottingham Forest before the window closed.

Only played the last five minutes wasn't on the pitch for long enough to make any real impact.
Author's Verdict: Player of The Match - Cody Gakpo
Despite all the noise and speculation surrounding Cody Gakpo, he has started this season in top form. Today, he was sublime, not only with his two assists but throughout the first half, especially.
Every time he got on the ball, he looked like a threat, and his partnership with Alexander Isak could be special as the year goes on. After a poor season last campaign, he is certainly trying to put that behind him and show LFC why keeping him this summer was the best decision the club could have made
