Liverpool ready to battle Real Madrid in the race for £50m star
Liverpool Join Luka Vuskovic Race as Brighton Stand Firm Over £50m Centre-Back
Liverpool are among the clubs showing serious interest in Brighton defender Luka Vuskovic, according to TeamTalk , with Real Madrid and Barcelona also firmly in the frame for one of Europe's most closely watched young centre-backs.

The 19-year-old has rapidly moved into elite transfer conversations after a strong start to life at Brighton. TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all "seriously interested" in the Croatian international, while Bayern Munich and Chelsea continue to monitor the situation closely.
Vuskovic only arrived at Brighton this summer in a club-record deal worth up to £50 million, following an impressive loan at Hamburg. Since then, he has become a regular in the Premier League, with his authority in the air, calmness in possession and physical presence pushing his stock even higher.
Liverpool transfer interest grows in Vuskovic
Liverpool's interest is particularly notable because it points to planning at centre-back. TEAMtalk states the club's hierarchy are looking ahead to "a major addition in the centre-back position", which makes sense given the uncertainty around the long-term shape of the back line.

Vuskovic is viewed as an "exciting target" and, in the context of Liverpool's recruitment, that description feels important. The club have often preferred high-ceiling signings who can develop into long-term starters, rather than short-term fixes. On that basis, Luka Vuskovic looks to fit the profile.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are both said to be monitoring him closely, while Bayern Munich have followed him for some time and are understood to be open to a future move if squad space and finances allow. Chelsea are also "in the picture" as they continue their search for defensive reinforcements.

Brighton stance makes any Vuskovic deal difficult
For now, Brighton hold the strongest hand. Vuskovic is under contract until 2031 and the report makes clear the club are under "no pressure to sell". That is a major factor in any potential negotiation, especially with Brighton viewing him as "a long-term asset".
No formal moves have been made at this stage and any serious approach is expected next summer rather than in January. That timing feels realistic. Brighton have no reason to engage mid-season unless an exceptional offer arrives, and the growing list of admirers only strengthens their position.
Barcelona have tracked the defender since last season, while Liverpool and Real Madrid have "stepped up their efforts more recently". That alone underlines how quickly Vuskovic's reputation has developed.

Premier League rise puts Europe on alert
What stands out here is not only the calibre of clubs involved, but the speed with which Vuskovic has established himself. Brighton have built a reputation for identifying and developing elite talent, and this looks like another case where they may already be holding a player capable of commanding far more than his initial fee.
Unless Brighton's stance softens, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Chelsea may all need patience. For now, the message is straightforward, Vuskovic will keep playing, Brighton will keep watching his value rise, and Europe's biggest clubs will keep circling.
Our View
This is one of those links that feels believable, but also complicated. Liverpool needing another top-class centre-back makes sense, especially if the club are thinking beyond the next 12 months. Vuskovic sounds like exactly the type of player recruitment teams love, young, physically ready, technically strong and already proving himself in the Premier League.

At the same time, there is a lot here that should make anyone cautious. Brighton are elite sellers and they rarely move from a position of weakness. If he has only just joined for up to £50 million and is already attracting Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the eventual price could become enormous. Liverpool can compete, of course, but they will not want to be dragged into a deal that runs away from them.
There is also the question of timing. If no formal move is expected until next summer, a lot can change. Another season of progress could make him even less attainable. Equally, Liverpool may decide there are better-value options elsewhere. That has often been the smarter route.
The most encouraging part is that the club appear to be planning ahead. Whether it is Vuskovic or someone else, centre-back feels like an area where decisive action will be needed. He looks like a serious talent. The concern is whether this is the start of a genuine move, or simply Liverpool being one of many major clubs keeping tabs on a player everyone now wants.
