With the Buffalo Bills looking to be Super Bowl contenders, the team is preparing in the offseason to come back after a disappointing early exit in the playoffs. As the Bills conduct OTAs recently , one impact player who was absent for most of last season and is looking to get back on the field soon is defensive tackle Ed Oliver .
Buffalo's ninth overall pick from the 2019 NFL Draft has been a key piece to the team's defense for several years, which is why his absence was missed last season, as he only played in three games. After playing the season opener last year, he would get his ankle stepped on in practice, and after missing four games, Oliver tore his bicep in the second game.
While recovering from the bicep injury, he would then sustain a knee injury, "needed a mid-season scope," via Sports Illustrated, that kept him out until the postseason. Oliver would speak during OTAs about the number of injuries he went through.
"It was hard. It was different. I think that's the first time I had two surgeries in one year, let alone I only had one surgery before then, then having two in one year, really three. I'm just happy to be healthy," Oliver said.
Bills' Ed Oliver on where his health is at the moment
It could appear that Oliver had a second knee scope, due to Oliver implying he had three surgeries, but in any regard, the star has yet to participate in voluntary OTAs. He would be asked about his health and if he could get on the field and practice:
"I guess so, I guess I could," Oliver said. "I got a little oops oops, but it's fine. Like I said, I'm still healthy, and I'm still here, and I could probably go if I wanted to, but what's the point of going now versus late in the playoffs when I really need to be on go? So, I think that's just kind of an approach right now."
It remains to be seen when Oliver returns to the field for the Bills.
